How can life get any sweeter than sitting in the warm temperatures of Aspen Colorado, sipping a glass of fine wine while enjoying food prepared by some of the best chefs in the world. Not to take away anything from the view, which can't get much better because you're surrounded by America's Rocky Mountains and rubbing elbows with celebrities and celebrity chefs.
Many of us find ourselves addicted to the food channel and competitions with the classic chefs of yesterday and today competing on shows like iron Chef and top Chef. Come to the Aspen food and Wine Festival and you get to meet the chefs and watch them cook some of their specialties.
Keep in mind if you're planning a trip to the Aspen food and Wine Festival make sure your way to spend some cash because this is the playground of the rich and famous. After all to even attend as a consumer it's got cost you over $1200 just for a ticket, and that's not even counting your resort stay or shopping in downtown Aspen.
The scheduled events for Friday Saturday and Sunday are extremely diverse between wines, food, and of course wine and food. For instance on Friday it starts with a talk on the world of eggs and how to build a better burger to secrets of champagne and serving sparkling wine with cheese. Then there's always the grand tasting of the impressive wines featured here at this event every year. For the wine enthusiast the hour or so that you spend sipping these wines is almost the worth the price of entry to this event, not to mention the vintners themselves.
Of interest to some may be the talks by food network's Andrew Zimmerman although it could be questionable whether you would like to sample anything he's presenting. Remember that Andrew is the host of Bizarre Foods, and his pledge to eat anything once. All kidding aside, a chef in his own right Andrew Zimmerman is a crowd pleaser.
This year it appears that there are many of our wine experts discussing Pinot Noir and what to pair or not to pair with wine. Scanning the list of lines presented during these three days, finds an impressive list of Pinot Noirs to choose from, and the weather's prime for sipping.
The Top Chef Family of stars and the chef department seem to be everywhere in these three days with displays demonstrations and mingling with the crowds and of course sipping fine lines. Many if not most of recent top Chef winners will also be found giving demonstrations, tips, and if you're interested autographs.
Of course all three days there's a grand tasting so your price of admission gets you into all the grand tastings so plan your time and divide your wines seem to get to enjoy them all. And don't forget to pay as much attention to the Sonoma wines as you will to the best of Burgundy always a draw because its wines from Burgundy. And then there's also the talk on tequila, so this time for a break from wine there's nothing like a slammer or at least a sipper of high quality tequila on a warm summer day.
